This is a tenant forum and a public record for 114 East 1st Street in New York City. The building is now managed by Robert Spitalnick, Birchwood Properties LLC, 98 CUTTERMILL RD # 263S, Great Neck, NY 11021, who took over in 2011 from Vanderleigh Properties. At least one other Vanderleigh property has been "transferred" to Birchwood Properties.

Apartments left a s result of the ongoing infestation are already on the market
Today, a broker was showing young people unaware of the situation in the building, the apartments vacated as result of the current infestations with rat mites, rats and bed bugs. How do you qualify this kind of activity?

this is against the law and completely unethical, the landlord must notify new tenants of infestations.

I talked today to two different tenants in separate apartments who are leaving the the building, due to the infestations with rat mites and rats, at the end of this month. They both told me that their apartments were shown by a broker without their previous knowledge.

ReplyDeleteDON"T BE AFRAID - NO MATTER HOW THE LANDLORD (AND OTHERS) THREATEN -
YOU CANNOT BE EVICTED!!!!
You may get a "fake" eviction notice from Birchwood and their lawyer - it is bogus.
We need to stand together!
